Glen Mobbs and Joanne Mobbs are the Strata Managers of Ace Body Corporate Management (Chippendale).
I was fortunate enough to experience a management career that spanned most of the major disciplines including operations, marketing, recruitment, business start-up, consulting, and General Management, of several organizations in various industries.
In 2001 Joanne and I made the momentous decision to go into business for ourselves. This was in the form of a Quest Serviced Apartment business in St Kilda, Melbourne where we gained a keen understanding from the perspective of the “other side of the fence”, by managing 50 individually owned apartments, of what it meant to be intimately involved in an owners corporation (we attended all meetings as a major contributor to the fund) and just how important it was to us to have strata managers that were empathic, very responsive and solution focused.
We developed a full understanding of building maintenance issues and, and we gradually refurbished the whole apartment complex over a three year period. During this time we also developed an insight into how important it was to communicate regularly with lot owners, through newsletters and in person, so they knew exactly what was happening in their building.
For four years Joanne and I owned a motel business in the wet tropics of far north Queensland. Surviving Cyclone Larry, in addition to four years of severe flooding, intact, gave us an in-depth and hands–on, appreciation of what constitutes sound building practice and effective building up-keep and maintenance.
My interests are: Going for long walks, football (all codes), eating out, military history, and home DIY and repairs.
My personal values are doing what I say I will, when I say I will, getting the job done quickly and efficiently and developing trust. Our clients are our commercial lifeblood!

I have a strong background in Customer service intensive industries and office administration. I joined with Glen in business 8 years ago when we looked to exploit our joint commercial skills by going into business for ourselves. This initially took the form of joint owner/managers of a Quest Serviced Apartment business in St Kilda, Melbourne, where I really began to hone my property development skills. (They had their initial airing with the complete renovation of an old house and then the subsequent project management of the doubling of the size of the next home).
The Quest property re-modeling led to further exercising those skills during the refurbishment and redecoration of all the common areas of the apartment building, including landscaping on a tight budget, and the stretching of that budget to do much more than what would normally have been achievable. I’m proud to say that we left the building in considerably better condition than we found it, and consequently maximized the sale-ability and appeal of the lot owner’s apartments. I also learned the value of developing strong relationships with excellent tradesmen.
Following that, I personally supervised and project managed the building and completion of extra units added during expansion and refurbishment of the motel business we owned in far north Queensland. I have a real passion for property, in all aspects, from the marketplace to design and architecture, interior décor, gardening and landscaping.
My interests are: Going for long walks, eating out, movies, ancient cultures, real estate, architecture, building construction, interior décor, and I am a very keen gardener and landscaper.
